2007 Boryeong Mud Festival
Boryeong Mud Festival, one of the Biggest, Muddiest Festivals
You Don't Want to Miss
Some Good Old Clean Fun: This Festival allows you to get muddy with a buddy!

Held at Daecheon Beach, the only shell powder, white sand beach in Asia, the Boryeong Mud Festival has the capacity to double your pleasure! The festival affords the opportunity to leisurely enjoy the scenic beaches as well as the beneficial effects of mud therapy. Compared with other varieties of mud, Boryeong mud is different because of its nutritional properties for the skin as it contains high levels of germanium and minerals. Drawing over 30,000 international visitors every year, this popular summer event has been honored as the Best Festival of 2007 by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Get Down and Dirty with the Hands-On Mud Events!
Visitors can choose from a wide variety of enriching treatments, fun-filled events, and spirited games. At the pavilion where assortments of mud treatments tempt the wearied body, immerse yourself in a mud bath or sauna or relax with a do-it-yourself massage. For the duration of the festival, foreign visitors are privied to a 30% discount on massages making them more easily affordable for all (Adult: 3,500 won; children: 2,100 won).
On the roads circling the beach, programs are held to train both the body and mind. Guests can gleefully ski down tidal flats or participate in physically vigorous military simulation training sessions (11:00 on July 14; 13:00 on July 15~22).
The main venue for mud events hosts a large mud bath, capable of accommodating several people at a time, and accompanying massages are also readily available. You will discover additional opportunities to lose yourself in the myriad of exciting games, slides, and obstacle courses.
The mud festival also offers a chance to take a piece of your experience home. Dye a handkerchief or t-shirt naturally with the beautiful hues of mud (3,000 won ~ 10,000 won) or test your soap-making skills by molding a cake of mud-enriched soap (3,000 won per bar).
