The 2011 Korea Drama Festival Awards were held on October 2 at the Gyeongnam Culture and Art Center in Gyeongsangnam-do Jinju-si. At the ceremony, Lee Min Ho won the award for Best Actor for his role in City Hunter (SBS), while Yum Jung Ah, star of Loyal Family (MBC) took home the prize for Best Actress. The SBS drama Secret Garden was honored by two awards: the Grand Prize (Dae Sang) and the Best Writer Award.
Lee Min Ho was praised extensively for his portrayal of Lee Yun Seong, the main character of the drama City Hunter. Drastically different from his well-known role as the gentle prince in the drama Boys Over Flowers, Lee Min Ho took on the cold and steely persona of a trained killer, wowing viewers with his versatile acting skills. Yum Jung Ah, of Loyal Family, also garnered attention for her diverse acting abilities in her role as the daughter-in-law of a high-powered family, a character who was evil one moment and completely angelic the next.
Joo Sang Wook (Giant on SBS) and Lee Yuri (Shiny Shiny Shining on MBC) picked up the awards for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, while the Best Rookie Actor and Actress’ awards went to Kim Soo Hyun (Dream High on KBS) and Im Soo Hyang (New Tales of Gisaeng on SBS). The director of the KBS drama SungKyunKwan Scandal won the Best Director Award, while the MBC drama The Greatest Love was selected as the Best OST.
