Ferry to China print


Information on Ferry Services between Korea and China

A 24 hour trip by sea is possible between China and Korea due to their close geographical distance. Currently, there is a reasonably-priced exotic ferry tour package being offered. Information regarding the ferry tour is as follows:
 
 
Departure Procedure
1) Ferry Terminal in the Incheon Port International Passenger Terminal
In anticipation of congestion at the International Passenger Terminal, be sure to arrive at the terminal 2 to 3 hrs. before your departure time. Also, pick up the Korean Arrival & Departure cards at the terminal.
Fill out the passenger information, vessel name, and intended place of destination and present it at the time of the departure inspection.

2) Check-in Procedures (1-2 hrs. before departure)
Follow the directions broadcasted over the loud speaker and present your boarding pass and passport at the check-in counter. At this time, you may request your desired cabin. Present your boarding pass with the assigned cabin number and passport at the declarations gate. You may apply for an arrival visa at the check-in counter.
Please confirm your boarding hrs. by telephone. Also, please arrive at the departure gate and board the vessel at the boarding times stated on your boarding pass.
(Extra fees will not be collected separately as fees for the terminal use and tourism taxes will be added to the tariffs in Korea. In China, a citizen fee of 30RMB and harbor usage fees will need to be prepared.)
* Terminal utilization fees and departure taxes will be applied to all Korean passengers over the age of 6, and will need to be paid for when purchasing your tickets.
* Arrival Visa Information – Passengers in need to apply for an arrival visa will need to inform the ticketing/check-in counter.


3) Baggage Check
After following check-in procedures, passengers who have baggage to check will need to continue to the baggage check counter. Once there, present your boarding pass and passport and hand over your baggage to receive a baggage check tag.

4) Departure Gate
Follow the directions broadcasted over the loud speaker and present your passport and boarding pass at the departure gate to be permitted through the gate.

5) Customs Inspection
A safety inspection and inspection of personal belongings will be performed. Valuables (300,000 won and over) will need to be declared before hand in order to avoid taxation on the items and for insurance purposes in case of theft.
Also, passengers carrying more than a combined currency value (Korea, Chinese, American currencies, etc.) of $10,000USD will need to declare this in order to avoid any unfavorable drawbacks.
There have been recent cases where passengers carrying more than the regulated amount without declaring it, have had their currency confiscated by Chinese Customs. In order to avoid this type of loss, all passengers should declare currencies over $5,000 USD at Chinese Customs.

6) Departure Inspections
Proceed to the departure inspection counter (Ministry of Justice Immigrations Office) and present your passport, departure & arrival cards, and boarding pass. After inspection, you will receive a stamp in your passport and your arrival card will be returned to you along with your passport.
Take good care of your arrival card, as you will need it at the time of reentry.

7) Waiting for Boarding
After all of the departure procedures are finished, wait for your boarding time in the waiting room, or visit the duty-free shop.

8) Boarding
Following the directions broadcasted over the loud speaker and the directions of the staff-members, proceed to the ferry by the port’s shuttle bus to board.

9) Inside the Ferry
Before your arrival in China, have your arrival card and medical inspection documents ready to be presented at the time of the arrival inspections. On the medical inspection documents, fill out your personal information, vessel name, and reason for visit.
At this time, passengers who do not possess an arrival visa, but have applied for one, will need to turn in their completed application (with an attached photo) to the visa application counter located near the arrival area in order to receive a normal visa.

10) Disembarkation
Upon arrival, passengers may disembark in the order of first class passengers, the eldery, and finally, economy class passengers. A shuttle bus will be available to transport passengers to the terminal.
 
Return Trip Information
1) Ferry Terminal in China
In anticipation of congestion at the International Passenger Terminal, be sure to arrive at the terminal 2 to 3 hrs. before your departure time. Passengers should have their departure cards completely filled out and have their medical inspection documents prepared so that it can be submitted for departure inspection.

2) Purchasing Harbor Passes and Check-in Procedures (1-2 hrs. before departure)
Passengers may purchase harbor passes at the ferry counter located inside the terminal. Once you have paid for the harbor fees (30RMB), present your ferry ticket and passport to receive an authorized boarding pass with an assigned cabin number.

3) Baggage Check
Those with luggage that needs to be checked may proceed to the baggage check counter after the check-in procedure. Passengers need to present their boarding passes and passports at the baggage check counter. After claiming your baggage, you will receive a baggage claim tag.

4) Departure Gate
Follow the directions announced over the loud speaker, and present your boarding pass and passport at the departure gate. After inspection, passengers may then proceed through the departure gate. The departure gate will close an hour prior to scheduled departure.

5) Customs Inspection
Personal belongings will be inspected.

6) Departure Inspection
Proceed to the departure inspection counter (Ministry of Justice Immigrations Office) and present your passport, departure card, and boarding pass. After inspection, you will receive a stamp in your passport and your arrival card will be returned to you along with your passport.

Passengers may board the ferry by using the shuttle bus that takes them from the terminal to the ferry dock.

9) Inside the Ferry
Before arriving at Korea’s Incheon Port, passengers should have their arrival card, customs declaration form and quarantine questionnaire prepared.

10) Disembarkation
After arriving in Korea, passengers may disembark in the order of first class passengers, the eldery, and finally, the economy class passengers. A shuttle bus will be available to transport passengers to the terminal.
※ Animal Entry Procedures

All live animals entering Korea must be accompained by valid certificates issued by the exporting country’s government.
① You will need an issued quarantine document as well as the following:
Rabies Shot Confirmation Note - Issued from a veterinary clinic (shot must have been taken at least a month in advance.)
Fee is 10,000won.
② You must submit the above documents and bring your animal with you to the animal quarantine office. Afterwards, you’ll receive a quarantine certificate.
③ It’s possible to get a quarantine certificate at Incheon Quarantine Office on the same day of departure.

Ticket Reservations
- In general, reservations can be made up to three months before the date of departure. Foreign travelers can only make reservations by phone.
- For reservations, your English name on your passport and date of birth are needed. Reservations will only be complete if payment is made by the date designated by the respective ferry companies.
- Foreign language services: Most ferries between Korea and China offer Chinese services. However, other foreign languages such as English are not readily available. For translation assistance, call Tourist Information Phone (+82-2-1330) or contact the nation-wide Tourist Information Center.
