[Korea] 2012 Expected Blooming Dates of Cherry Blossoms


This year, cherry blossoms are expected to bloom about 4 days earlier than the previous year.

Accordingly, the blossoms will begin blooming in Seogwipo of Jeju Island, Korea’s most southern region, on March 24th, and work its way up. The blooming will continue onto the southern provinces on March 30th, in the central region on April 4th, and in the northern Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do Provinces after April 14th.

Subsequently, the blossoms will peak on Jeju Island around March 31st, in the southern provinces between April 6th and the 13th, and in the central region between April 11th and the 20th.

As for festival venues, cherry blossoms are expected to bloom in Jinhae around March 29th, a couple days before the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival, and in Yeoui-do around April 9th, just four days before the Hangang Yeouido Spring Flower Festival.
